CSAC returns to “normal” as Stage 4 of roadmap begins

Normal meetings for the Coventry Sub Aqua Club resume this week. Our first meeting since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic will be on Thursday 22nd July.

Our regular Thursday meetings were suspended in late March 2020 shortly. Since that time, club members’ diving opportunities have been limited to short windows in between lockdowns. Other than a single virtual meeting to hold our club’s AGM online in December 2020, the club has not met in person in roughly sixteen months!

In mid-May the club resumed limited activities on Thursday evenings. Members were permitted to swim and receive training in the pool, but our normal gatherings were not allowed. We hoped to go back to “normal” activities in June, but the Prime Minister announced a delay to the final stage of the Government’s “roadmap to freedom” that month. Limits to club affairs continued for a little longer.

Club members will have received communications from the Secretary and the Diving Officer to set out details of our imminent return to the King Henry VIII School premises and upcoming trips. The DO’s recent bulletin has also been added to our private Facebook group for members.

If you are thinking of joining the Coventry Sub Aqua Club, whether to have a try-dive, learn to dive or to continue your diving, please ensure that you get in contact with us before attending one of our meetings. Please write to us either through the BSAC website or through our public Facebook page. A member of our committee will respond to you.

We are pleased to be open again to new members and to welcome guests who are thinking of learning to dive with us. Please note that we have received several inquiries over the last twelve months about try-dives and courses. During this time there has been a changeover of committee members. If you have not received a reply from us in some time, please write to us again.

The Coventry Sub Aqua Club continues to follow the advice of the British Sub Aqua Club and other public health bodies. Whether you are a guest to the club or a returning member, please remember to avoid visiting us if you are feeling unwell and experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. We do hope that this week’s meeting is the first of many in 2021 and that there are no interruptions around the corner.
